It’s my mission to offer reasonable rates to writers who would like to publish their work, submit it to publishing houses or other organizations, or just get another set of eyes on their life’s passion that they have tirelessly run their own eyes over again and again. Below you’ll find my current methods and rates.

I use the “Track” and “Comment” features on Microsoft Word to complete the editing process. If you are unfamiliar with this process, I would be happy to explain it to you. (It’s quite simple.)

I mainly use the CMS (Chicago Manual of Style) as the majority of my customers are novel writers, and that is the style that is largely accepted by publishers. If you need me to follow another set of rules (Ex: AMA, APA, or MLA for medical and educational documents, or AP style for newspapers and magazines), please let me know and I’ll adjust accordingly.

ESTIMATES

Estimates will be determined by a copyediting test, using the following guidelines:

1. Writer will submit a sample in test format. Test format is 5 pages, 250 words per page, double spaced. Writer should have a general idea what size completed work will be and submit that number (words, pages, etc) to editor.
2. Editor will edit submitted sample, and calculate total project estimate based on time taken to edit sample and how long full work is expected to be.
3. Copyediting test is free if content is old work (before an editing process) already published, work that never will be published, or a specific sample of work written exclusively for testing. There will be a flat charge of $20 for any test material that is “live”, meaning it is part of a project you intend to have published at any point.

These are currently my available options, please choose whichever service best fits your needs.

• Basic Copyediting – You have a basic grasp of the English language and grammar rules. Punctuation, grammar, correct word usage, major plot holes will be pointed out. – $25/hour
• Heavy Copyediting – You just want to write your book, spelling optional. Basic copyediting plus consistency of small details of characters and plot lines – $30/hour
• Transcribing – You want to speak your work into a recording device and have someone else do the typing! I will turn your recorded electronic file into a Word document. – $3.00 per minute of clearly enunciated dictation.
